Utah County Academy of Sciences is a public charter school with a STEP emphasis. We do not have a formal school library, but instead house books in the classroom libraries of our English teachers. I spent the majority of my career teaching middle school, and have now been trying to convert my classroom collection to one that better addresses the needs of a high school population. My project is to significantly expand my classroom library, which will be accessible to my personal students as well as all students in the school, in total just shy of 400 students. Students will be able to check books out from I want to offer students books that resonate with their lives and interests, thus my book list is rather eclectic. I have included requests for modern and diverse texts, classics, memoirs, historic fiction, and nonfiction books. I believe this expanded class library will be one more step to helping students develop a love of reading and learning.
