Many of our second graders have fallen behind in reading because of COVID-19. Research has shown that struggling readers should not be attempting to read leveled readers, but rather decodables. Decodable readers allow the student to use their phonics skills to read and make sense of the story. These books will help them enjoy reading rather than becoming frustrated. Frustrated readers often become students who hate reading, the goal of this project is to ensure that every child has books they CAN read and feel successful. By donating to this project you will help me provide every student, regardless of reading ability, something they can read in class and at home.
