We want to increase the impact of our centers by including more technology that will help us to deepen differentiation within our centers. We would use the new technology to model different activities to practice the skills taught in small groups and allow the students to do interactive slideshows, as well as a reading and listening center. COVID-19 has highlighted the gaps in student learning; we want to bring technology to our centers to help us bridge that gap. For example, we could make a video of ourselves teaching a specific skill, or providing instructions for an activity using manipulatives. Then the students could follow along, and continue to practice that skill. We have also put together many different interactive slideshows that allow a student to click through and make self-checks, which is a powerful tool in learning. We also want to do a center for reading and listening where a student will read aloud, and go back and listen to themselves. This is also a powerful tool to help the students become more animated readers. We could also utilize google classroom to assign tasks to the students, we could even use Nearpod for more interactive learning. Our students spend one hour in centers each day; this technology would help us make the most of every minute, by being able to further differentiate the instruction given.
