Books are a great way to motivate students to read and progress in their reading fluency and accuracy. Since COVID-19, many students are behind in their reading progress. This is an issue that affects many other areas of their learning, and will be a problem that will affect them in future grades. As their teacher, I want to make sure that they succeed both now and in the future. One of the best ways to help students read is to have them WANT to read. The books I chose are specific to my student's interests and series that they love, which will motivate them to read more and provide them with lots of variety. For example, I chose series that they love such as My Weird School. I also chose books including their interests such as Star Wars. Not only did I choose books that were great for entertainment, but I also chose books that were great for learning opportunities in all the subject areas. I am a first year teacher, so my classroom library is very limited. The opportunity to have more books in my room would impact many more students to come.
