Trout in the Classroom is a conservation project where students will have the opportunity to raise trout from eggs to parr (fish life stage), monitor tank water quality, engage in stream habitat study, learn to appreciate water resources, begin to foster a conservation ethic, and grow to understand ecosystems. This is a hands on activity that can help students see the why behind the science. It can help show them why we care about the world that they live in. These materials that are being provided through this program will be able to be used for many years. The filter and the chiller are some of the most important aspects of this project because of the environment that trout naturally live in. Students will be able to help keep the tank clean and cool enough for the trout with these supplies. The water test kit will help the students know what they need to do to keep the fish happy and healthy.
