Many of the students are carrying big emotions brought on by the pandemic and the uncertainty of the recent school years. The tools I want to include in my classroom will help me meet the needs of these students as they navigate uncharted territory. The items will be added to my Calm Corner that teaches how to manage emotions in a healthy way. I have included affirmation cards that I will use daily with my students as we talk about how we are feeling and prepare for our learning that day. I also included fidget/sensory toys and legos that I can provide for my students as they get worked up over their home lives, school work, and social situations. I have seen the one or two items I already possess in my classroom make a difference, and I want to be able to provide more tools to all of my students. In addition to the emotional intelligence items, headphones will also be used well in my classroom as I teach technological competency. As we could go online at any moment, students need to be able to navigate technology for the sake of their learning. The headphones listed as needed in my project will be used to train the students on the programs they would use during at-home learning.
