My students with IEPs have struggled to maintain their motivation during this pandemic. They have experienced academic failure and frustration, and as the class has moved forward, they have often felt left behind. They have struggled to be motivated to learn the difficult things their grade level is learning. It has become harder to motivate them with my typical "class store." By funding this project, I can more effectively motivate my students to participate and learn the content they need to learn. A 3D printer would allow us to print and earn the prizes they want. By having ownership in the process, they would be more likely to give their best effort. Additionally, I would be better able to incorporate 21st-century skills in my lessons, including understanding the process these printers use and how to design their own objects.
