One of our school wide goals has been to help all of our students become better readers. This library will be used for classroom lessons, but also to give students a chance to read more about history on their own and at their own reading level. Students in my classes learn about the history of our state and the history of our country. These books were chosen to emphasize history, but also to give students diversity in their reading with selections about Native Americans, African Americans, and women. I hope the students find people like themselves in what they read and are inspired by the history of the United States.
