My students are so ready to learn and enjoy group/individual sessions with me. However, I have seen a slight decline in engagement and lesson retention this year. Feedback from the students suggests that digital learning and hands on object lessons would be more rewarding for most of them. Additionally, moving most of my lessons to digital content would save exponentially on resources and time - as a lot of prep (printing, cutting, lamination, etc) goes into printed documents. When my students come to see me, the place they seem to thrive the most is the sensory area. I find that it is absolutely necessary for these students to have a place where they can free their worries for 10 minutes and just have a mindful moment. Aside from the tablets and curriculum listed, I've added student requested sensory items to help them when they need a breather. Lastly, I will be part of opening a new school next year. With this move and merge with another school, the SEL team and administrators deem it imperative that each teacher have a respite area in their classroom. We wanted to streamline the experience and also take the burden from the teachers. The rest of the materials listed are for this project. I'm fortunate that I have such amazing students that I can learn from. Most of the items requested are something a student/(s) have stated will help them engage in and retain social/emotional learning. My students love to learn and I would be honored to help provide anything to meet their needs.
