Our high school is located in rural Utah. During the pandemic we have seen our students suffer with mental health, everything from our suicide attempt rate to depression and unhealthy social distancing, loneliness and low self esteem. We have limited resources with professional help, the resources we do have are overwhelmed. We have students every day coming into our library looking for social interaction with other students, but with mental health issues they don't want to revel a lot about what they are feeling, they just need a break from the world around them. we have students looking for books on self help, ideas on coping with loneliness, stress and how to navigate with their peers in a new world. We are providing space for group coloring projects as well as games, we are hoping that this will help relive the need for talking but give them time with others with out thinking of their loneliness, low self esteem and self destructive behavior that our students have and books to take for personal help. We are also wanting them to disconnect from technology and reconnect with the great out doors. We are hoping to give them some ideas of what is in our beautiful state with books and guides of things they have never seen.
