Most students in junior high move from class to class for each subject. My students stay with me all day except for one class. Having to teach all the subjects, many materials are needed. Calculators and money games for math, sight word practice, sensory items for when they get frustrated, and class store with rewards for when they are modeling good behavior and academic success. Headphones with a microphone to help them with their reading program. A large map so that students can see where different countries are. An iPad for a student who is visually impaired. These things are all greatly needed. A special education classroom often requires special materials to help make learning more accessible. I have a student with a vision impairment and having an iPad in the classroom would really help her see what she is working on.
