Using math manipulatives helps struggling students to grasp topics and concepts that are usually more abstract. Physically analyzing blocks for volume and surface area will make a better connection than seeing a black and white image on their worksheet. Improved literacy will also support a student's math growth by improving their ability read and comprehend lessons and homework. Many of the books chosen will provide cross-curricular support to the content they'll cover in 7th grade history as well. Providing masks to our lower income students is also a way to help them stay healthy and be in school in person.
