My students who do not have books that they enjoy can come to my classroom and hopefully find some. They are welcome to take these home to read and discover that reading can be an enjoyable past-time and improve those Lexile scores. It can also give them something productive to do over days that they need to quarantine. "Literacy is the tool we use as humans to find one another, so it must belong to everyone."-Pam Allyn. I want to help close the word gap for my English-language learners and other students that need it. Finding a book that they enjoy reading will do that and help them on their way to being lifelong learners.
