The students that I work with are all on the Autism Spectrum and are brilliant young people. Most of the way that my classroom is designed is based on a rewards system. The kids can earn rewards such as snacks and free time if they are respectful and do their work in their other classes as well as mine. There are many different kinds of students in my classroom and they all like different things for their rewards. Technology is a great motivation for the students that I work with and getting an iPad for the classroom would be very beneficial as well as the opportunity to win snacks and treats when they do their work. This not only motivates them to continue to do their work, but it helps them achieve their social and behavior skills as well.
