We will be strengthening our phonological and phonemic awareness skills using basic decoding skills as my students will be transitioning into harder texts throughout the year. The books chosen are to support their reading development and can be used in reading groups and as a home reader activity where students can check out a book, take it home and read it with an adult, returning it for a new book. In our school, on Fridays, we have a STEM hour. The STEM toys will be used in building projects to help students have fun as they develop their thinking skills using creativity to learn the importance of STEM for their future. The rug will allow a place where we can come together and sit down and discuss the students' goals, lessons, and to give them a place to share who they are and what they have learned.
