Because of Covid, most of these students had to school at home for part or all of the last 2 years. Because of this, they haven't had to sit in a straight back chair for a full day so they get fidgety quickly. Having these flexible seating options open to them will allow those students, who have grown accustom to sitting differently while learning, a chance to practice sitting still in a classroom setting for the full day. Additionally, these seating options will make it easier to spread out for continued social distancing while still having color coded group options available that our standard seats do not allow. Because of the required social distancing, most of these students have come well below grade level in reading. The additional books that I am requesting will help add to my in class library and will allow more current and engaging texts to be used in literacy groups as well as our DYAD reading hour.
