I will be using these books for guided reading and small group instruction. I have found books that my students will get excited about, and will be able to read. I am in need of books that are on the appropriate level of reading, so that my students may advance in their reading levels. In 2nd grade students are expected to begin reading more complex stories, so that they are ready for 3rd grade. By adding these books to my classroom library, my students will have the appropriate reading materials to advance their 2nd grade reading expectations. My students have read all of my early chapter books in my personal class library and I am continually asking for more books that they can read. I previously taught 1st grade, so I am stocked up on 1st grade books, but my options for 2nd grade readers is very low. My students love the books I have now, but have read all my options. I have also included many stem activities for my students as a reward for completing classwork and going the extra mile. I love that I can give my student's rewards that involve helping their brains learn and grow!
