All students can become great, passionate readers, but some of them haven't yet met the book that will change their lives. With COVID-19 forcing distance and isolation for a lot of students, feelings of loneliness and disconnect are frequent. A magical library that can connect them to the world, that can teach them to empathize with others' feelings, and that can create common ground with their peers is absolutely essential. This project will bring books into our classroom and into their lives that will help them turn into who they need to be. No matter if they're reading during our Fun Friday read-a-thons or at home during remote learning, they are growing and learning. Being surrounded by books that are just waiting to be cracked open teaches students that I value literature, and I value their unique experiences enough to provide doorways and mirrors for them to find themselves within the pages of a magical, profound, or even beautiful book.
