My student's design, construct and finish a "Treasure Chest" with a domed lid. Students use a variety of power and hand tools to create a project that can be used to store personal items. The chest is made from the species of the student's own choosing as is the finish. Sound design concepts and construction techniques are used to solidify the project making it a potential heirloom. Safety skills are taught along with personal ownership. Students are required to complete the planning process prior to constructing the project. The Design Process is used to help the students become proficient at following a step-by-step process to build a project.
