What do my struggling beginning readers need? Creative learning opportunities through lego building, fun and engaging reading activities, and decodable books to help them become successful readers. I've found it challenging to find books for my beginning struggling readers that are decodable, yet engaging. The books I've chosen for this project will be just the thing to help these children decode rather than rely on repetitive picture clues to "read". The "engaging" part is also very important to me. Children should love what they are reading! I've also chosen learning activities such as that will help solidify their knowledge of letters, sounds, and blending. I've also included two professional development books that will help me on my journey to understand the best ways young children learn to read. This combination of materials will definitely contribute to the success of my students.
