Students LOVE color. We annotate a lot in English and having a set of pens for each student will help them enjoy and break down the annotation process for them. I also do quite a bit with flash cards, and love to use colored pens for tasks like this. I have seen first hand that students sometimes will remember content because of the color attached to the piece of information. Having a classroom set of colored pens would benefit 170+ students and would last a school year if not more.
