An iPad in the classroom will take my ability to connect with at-home learners to new heights! I will have the ability to create green-screen videos for science, and make engaging tutorial videos for challenging math concepts. Modeling for students how to use manipulatives when learning subtraction, addition or even shapes can make a concept move from flat and confusing to alive and interesting! This tool would have a direct positive impact on my struggling learners. Both ESL and special needs students will be able to use the iPad to make daily learning more accessible. Because an iPad is easy for young learners to navigate, more time will be spent engaging in content instead of maneuvering the device.
An iPad would help keep those at home connected to the classroom and their peers. In my experience, at home engagement is boosted significantly if I can allow students to talk or even say hello to each other during their quarantine and recovery time. I currently have a student that will be out of the classroom for up to eight week while recovering. I am excited at the thought of using the iPad to bring them back into the classroom, sometimes in real time, to participate and enthusiastically participate!
Not only will this enhance my teaching and interaction with at-home learners, it will also allow me to move more freely around the classroom, interacting more personally with students while using the iPad as a remote whiteboard. I could go on and on with the exciting possibilities, but I will just say thank you. Thank you for getting excited along side me at the possibility of helping all learners have the resources that they need to be successful!
