These books will become a part of our classroom library to teach students the social and emotional skills they need to connect with others and to handle overwhelming emotions. These books reflect my students, as well as their struggles. My first graders can often become overloaded with anxiety, frustration, and disappointment; however, reading about characters who find healthy ways to handle similar tough feelings will provide a model for their own path. These books will open a door to deeper social emotional learning discussions in our class, and will ultimately become a part of each child's personal story.
