All children need the chance for creative outlets and learning about the world of visual arts. Especially in the time of COVID-19, many students may be struggling with mental health and needing appropriate outlets. Art is the chance to disconnect from technology and re-connect with our souls and each other. It can create therapeutic space for wholesome recreation and the joy of exploration. Each watercolor paint set, sculpting tool, or slab of clay will go to children who need time, education, and space to explore their creativity, grounded in instruction of techniques and history. Students need opportunities to create art now more than ever. As a relatively new school, we are still working to build supplies to help students explore a variety of creative options. We also go through materials very quickly! I have seen many students become lost in the process of creation, and it is a source of tremendous satisfaction for each one to see, feel, and know that "I can do it!"
