Following the closure of public schools in 2020, we as educators quickly learned that shutting our doors greatly impacted our students. I have 29 students and their academic abilities are all extremely diverse. Small group instruction is more important than ever as it is a time when I can teach and focus on students' individual needs. However, in 5th-grade, students occasionally struggle with wanting to work in a small group setting. I am hoping that the flexible seating will be enough to excite them about this crucial time. I am very passionate about ensuring that I am researching and implementing best practices into my everyday instruction. I have recently learned how important it is to display success criteria and examplars into my classroom setting. Through the use of the poster board, markers, and composition notebooks together we will document what it takes for students to be successful. It is my hope that once success is clearly defined they will be able to become more self confident and independent. I am passionate about prepping my elementary students for the experiences they will face as they head to middle school next year. I am confident through the best practices I have researched that they will leave my classroom ready to take on any new challenge that might come their way.
