My students are in need of opportunities to interact and practice school skills such as sharing space, remaining on task, conflict resolution, and group work. As a classroom teacher, I need to create spaces in my classroom that encourage those interactions in a safe and sanitary way. "There is no separation of mind and emotions: emotions, thinking, and learning are all linked."-Dr Eric Jensen. Encouraging positive interaction will also encourage educational growth. Studies have shown that movement encourages on-task learning. Creating flexible seating learning spaces that encourage social interaction as well as on-task behavior will encourage students to grow socially and academically. I am requesting a floor table, some easy to clean flexible seating, and a literacy bookcase to display materials for buddy reading.
