The DNA Starter Kits will be used by groups of 2-3 students to establish and reinforce their understanding of how DNA is constructed and how that structure enables it to copy itself. The kits promote active, hands-on learning requiring face-to-face discussion and cooperation between individuals, the very aspects of the learning process that COVID-19 made difficult or non-existent. Cooperative, hands-on activities engage both motor and cognitive portions of the brain and also encourage the development of positive social skills. Both the DNA starter kits and water molecule kits will be used in structured lesson activities with specific, measurable outcomes.
