The rekenrek abacus is a wooden tool for learning place value. The kids I am teaching have missed a lot of hands on instruction. This will help them practice basic facts, place value, beginning multiplication with something to manipulate. Touching objects helps the concept stick in their brain better. I also have many children that pay attention better when they can move. I have a wiggle chair in my room. The kids love to be in that chair because they can concentrate better. They need 4 more. Kids have had a hard time because of Covid. I would like to make it a little easier for them to learn. That is why I chose the things I did.
