Many of my students grasp larger mathematical concepts but struggle to memorize basic math facts. Simply drilling and testing students doesn't provide the motivation and engagement needed. Research proves that learning through games is the key to success. Thus the creation of MAGIC MATH! Students will be motivated through targeted practice on their multiplication facts using games centered around the theme of "magic.” A designated time is allotted each week for this enjoyable and necessary practice. As each child masters their times tables, their confidence will build and they will be able to apply these facts to broader math concepts. They will use magical math games already in the classroom. The three sided flashcards and 12 sided dice sets will augment these games. Of course, a reward system always adds extra motivation. With our "Magic Math,” students will earn a wooden wand when they have mastered all their times tables. They'll then apply those math facts to learning their division facts. Once those are mastered, they'll receive a golden snitch fidget spinner. Through generous donations, I'll be able to utilize these magical supplies to help these students achieve mathematical greatness!
