My students will be starting the novel The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane after the successful completion of Esperanza Rising. This is a wonderful book that my students will fall in love with just like I did when I first read it in my Children's Literature class at Fresno State. The author, Kate Dicamillo, wrote Because of Winn-Dixie which they read in 4th grade. It's a book filled with lots emotions and I would love for my students to have a copy as we read along in class. My goal is to continue to help my students grow their love for reading through various novels. By having their individual copy of the novel, they will feel a stronger connection with the text and will be able to reread any section that they may have been confused on. In addition, they will be able to refer back to the text when completing their vocabulary activities and well as weekly comprehension questions. I want to show my students that reading can take us on my adventures! Please help us in our next reading adventure!
