Education has been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of my students have not been in a real classroom in two years. During distance learning, many students didn't have proper access to materials or consistent connections to the Internet. They were constantly staring at screens. Over the last two years, my students haven't had a chance to be normal middle schoolers. Reading a novel and learning to keep track of longer stories is essential to becoming a strong reader. The book I want to get for my students is about a kid around their age who goes on an unbelievable adventure, something that seems impossible in a worldwide pandemic.
