In my role as a Reading Specialist I am focusing my work on helping students who have been affected by the disrupted learning that has taken place the past couple of years. Many of my current students that I am working with did not thrive in the online/at home learning environment. These decodable, engaging books will be part of the process I use to help the students progress in their reading journey. With decodable books they are able to sound out words and this helps them to become successful readers. They love being able to hold a book and love the accomplishment of finishing one book, then another, until they've read them all! Re-reading is so important so I'll be able to send these books home to be reread again, increasing their ability to read independently. It's important for students to be able to practice writing words so the white boards and markers will assist with that.
