As a reading intervention teacher I am constantly researching ideas and methods to help my students become better readers. Whether it be ways that will get them excited to read or find best practices. Upon doing research, I stumbled across the Science of Reading and Secret Stories. My students are so much more engaged and are becoming readers. They are not relying on cueing to figure out words. Teachers Pay Teachers has been an excellent resource supplementing this new approach. My kiddos love the activities that I have used for that site. It is costly and most of it has to be laminated. I no longer want to use the leveled readers I currently have. Students need decodable readers to gain confidence and apply the skills they have learned to sound out words.
