When it comes to special education, there are some hard days, some good days and many that fall in-between. One of the biggest hurdles for students in special education at the Jr. High level is missing out on electives. As a team, we work hard to create time and space in our special education classes to incorporate some of the fun learning experiences while providing that specialized instruction. Having a 3D printer for students to use, to create their own projects in our classroom, would provide one such experience. Another experience is having access to drawing tablets that work with our Chromebooks. This not only provides our students with opportunities for differentiation in their options for demonstrating understanding, but will also aide in fine motor skills training. These are amazing students who thrive when provided with out of the box opportunities.
