In exploring learning activities with manipulatives, young children utilize many skill sets. They practice decision-making and critical-thinking as they think about which tools to use and distinguish between weight, height, length, shape, and size of objects as they sort. They explore patterns through sequencing, ordering, comparison, colors, textures and much more! Manipulatives help reach every type of learner in the classroom! Engaging young children in activities that they are interested in, that also allow them to grow academically and personally will always be something I strive for in my classroom.
