These 3D Printers will be used in my classroom to benefit both Computer Science and Multimedia students in a low socioeconomic school. Students will get to experience being modern day blacksmiths by creating their own 3D files for printing to solve a variety of problems. Students taking Game Development Fundamentals will design game pieces for their Board Game Designs and actually be able to print out the parts to play with. Students taking Computer Science Principles and Computer Programming 1 courses will get to design parts during free time as a reward for finishing programming assignments on time. Students in the Digital Graphic Arts Intro course will get to take 2D graphics they design in Adobe Illustrator, and convert them to wall art that can be printed. Students involved in the TSA, Technology Student Association, CTSO will get to use the 3D Printers for projects that will compete at TSA State Competition. Students can use the 3D Printers after school to print personal projects. With all of these different groups, students will get to experience the magic of holding something in their hand that they created themselves. This will benefit their social-emotional health, that has been negatively impacted by the pandemic, as most students are in a rut consuming media, but not creating. Students can also work together in groups to solve problems together, strengthening their social skills. 3D Printing can be used as a reward for academic improvement.
