Many of my students shut down when they are asked to work with fractions. I am wanting to bring fractions to life for them by applying them to food. All my student love food, but don't have the basic cooking skills that extend past ramen noodles. The measuring cups will play a major role in teaching fractions. They will help students to understand that one measurement can look different depending on the container it is in. My students will be able to see visually equivalent fractions with everyday ingredients and tools. I want my students to take home the skills they learn and put them to use in their own kitchens.
