Writing is a content area where many students struggle. Developing topic ideas and making sure to follow all convention rules seem to be a lot for these third graders to handle. Not to mention that they have unfortunately missed quite a bit of school due to the pandemic. Taking all of this into consideration, I have decided to dedicate each Wednesday as a "Camp Write-a-Lot" day. During this day, students will be guided through the entire writing process from developing topics to typing a final draft. My hope is that students will begin to soak in all the writing skills that are missing from the past couple of years. Since writing is normally the subject level with the least interest invested, my goal is to decorate my classroom like a campsite to motivate students. I would love to add fun seats, lanterns, flashlights, camping cushions, and more. My goal is for students to be in awe when they walk into our camp and be excited to write!
