The use of colorful and purposeful equipment is used daily in our Motor Lab. We use equipment that is motivational and exciting for our students to use. Often times movement can be difficult for our students, so making our activities and lessons engaging and colorful provides motivation for them to be successful.
We are always looking for new and exciting ways to incorporate balance in our lessons. Skills that are challenging for our students are often less motivating for them, but when we provide colorful and exciting new ways to explore their environment while utilizing their balance, it now becomes motivating! With the use of the Step and Balance Sensory Stones, our students will be able to step from one stone to the other, identifying colors and textures while also engaging their Vestibular System and core muscles to balance across the stones. While utilizing the Hop Scotch Carpet, our students will be able to practice their jumping or hopping to get to their bean bag. Utilizing equipment in a fun way to make movement more enjoyable!
We are always looking for new ways to enhance our ball skills as well. Hand eye coordination is a huge reason our students struggle with ball skills. That is where the Swing and Catch Cups will come in handy, so they can practice tossing and catching a ball to themselves and engaging their hand eye coordination. As well as the Basketball Hoop and Bean Bag Toss Board, they are providing new and engaging ways for our students to toss a bean bag or reach up high and throw a ball into a hoop! Providing them with the opportunity to engage and get the exposure to new skills opens up a whole new world of opportunities for these kids!
