Dramatic play is a type of play in which children assume various roles and act them out. This pretend shop will allow my students to explore their own thoughts and feelings, build confidence, and prepare my young learners to tackle real-life situations. Incorporating dramatic play into my lesson plan can help bring out my students' full potential. When I see my students engage in pretend (or dramatic) play, they are actively experimenting with the social and emotional roles of life. Through cooperative play, my students learn how to take turns, share responsibility, and creatively problem-solve. The donations to this project will help encourage expressive language development and motivate students to communicate their wishes to their peers from the perspective of their individual pretend roles. Both unstructured and structured dramatic play create an avenue for conflict resolution as well. Normally, disputes will occur during playtime, but dramatic play gives early learners opportunities to work through their disagreements to reach a compromise. It helps children to consider other perspectives as they recognize various roles of people in their lives and communities.
