In my Life Skills class there is a wide range of abilities. Some of my students are very independent and others depend on our staff in almost all aspects of life. Our classroom celebrates every milestone we each make, as well as support each other during hard times. The learning games I'm requesting will allow my students to create friendships with their peers while also learning about teamwork, waiting turns, and making progress on academic goals. The sensory toys will help my students who feel anxious or overwhelmed to be able to regulate their emotions in a healthy productive way. The balance ball is to offer flexible seating for the students who need it; this will allow them to get the physical movement their body needs during learning time. The blankets and hair brushes will be used to help students learn about self-care. We learn about how and why it's important to take care of our selves, but by having these items the students will be able to brush their hair each morning to be ready for the day. The blankets will be there when the student needs comfort and safety for the days they need it. The materials and resources I'm requesting will allow me to plant seeds of worth within each student to help create a positive learning environment while setting them up for success in life. Helping the students learn their self-worth is very important to their self-esteem, which shapes them into the person they are. My students are all so brilliant in their own individual way, I want to share that with the world by first teaching the student of their worth. Thank you!
