My students need granola bars, water, fruit snacks, and other snacks to help keep them focused throughout the day. All of my students come from low-income households many are living with extended relatives. My students often come to school without eating breakfast, not by choice, but by circumstance. Currently, in the classroom, we have a snack closet the students can go to throughout the day to get a snack. Some students take snacks home for their siblings because that may be the only snacks they will have. Most of my students do not bring in a daily snack and get hungry especially in the afternoon and it is difficult for them to focus.
