When students think of a US History class they often think of memorizing dates and historical figures. In my US History class, I want them to feel immersed in the time period we are studying so they can watch it unfold before their eyes. It is important to me that they can empathize with what those who came before us experienced. Through the use of primary sources, students are able to experience history in a different light. Through interactive activities, history comes alive and puts the student in the center of the historical time period being studied. Readers Theater activities, and engaging lessons found on Teachers Pay Teachers can help put my students in the center, keep them engaged and ensure that they understand and value the struggles our nation has overcome.
