My students will be doing a printmaking activity in art class. We will need a class set of brayers in order for each student to have their own roller and expedite the process of making the prints. A brayer is a hand-tool used historically in printing and printmaking to break up and "rub out" ink before it was "beaten" using inking balls or composition rollers. The district received a grant and I ordered gelli plates so that my students could learn about printing; however, the brayers I had were old and destroyed. Donating to this project will make a huge difference in our art class, as my art budget runs out very quickly and being able to provide each student in the class with their own brayer will make the process much quicker and ensure that all students are actively engaged in the learning process and not having to wait their turn.
