In ELA, there is a vast amount of reading, and even more so, writing. My school is not one-to-one technology, which means students have to share Chromebooks. This can be very frustrating for students because they have to wait for their turn to do their projects, research, essays, etc. These 6th-grade students were virtually learning for over a year during COVID. They grew accustomed to using technology one hundred percent of the time to do their assignments, which they succeeded at. Now, they have returned to the classroom, but instead of moving forward with technology to keep their momentum, they are given paper and pencil to do assignments. The students dislike this very much and it is difficult to keep them engaged when they have to do worksheets. However, when given technological devices their faces light up with excitement. They are eager to do the assignments and share their masterpieces with the class.
