The main purpose is to use them in class BUT each abacus will be use as flexibly as my students need it. Our class goal is to reach further than what the expectation for the grade level. Students will be using their abacus during the beginning math routine. This will ensure they are given the opportunity to develop the skill of solving mathematical problems. Students will also be using their abacus during interventions. Interventions are learning moments students need to overcome difficulties during regular lessons. When students are able to develop math fluency they will have less stress and anxiety when working with numbers.
