In March, my students will be undertaking a unit entitled "The Status of the American Dream." They will read, watch, and discuss materials from many lens (education, economic, race, gender, etc.) to understand how the American Dream shapes lives in the modern era. These books will allow them to continue their learning at home and within smaller reading groups in the classroom where they will be able to form their own opinions and discuss them with their peers. They will then use their learning toward a full-class seminar discussion that will eventually evolve into a research paper.
