While going through our book sets for book clubs and literature circles, I noticed that the majority of the books were about white people, written by white people. I am requesting these books so our students can see themselves in the books they read. I also want them to read books written by those who represent them. The books I have requested here are just a start to what I want our book sets to be. Our students deserve to have an education that de-centers white supremacy. They deserve an education that shows the excellence of who they are. Please help our teachers make this step towards being even more culturally responsive.
