Our project is simply this, increase our reading levels! My struggling readers have only a handful of books in which to practice their reading. In my classroom library, they have read the same books over and over, maybe a couple dozen times since the start of the year and are getting bored. I am struggling to find enough supplements even from our main classroom library. They are also missing out on the chance to take more AR tests because of this fact. They need new words to read! New stories to spark their interest, thus sparking their imagination, thus sparking their desire to read and learn more. In order to support these students to continue their learning during independent reading and book clubs, we simply just need more than the 14 books leveled 0-1.9 on our shelves. Yes, that's right, only 14 books for the whole year! With your assistance, we can increase our classroom library content, increase our vocabulary, and word recognition.
