These items will be provided to any student requesting the item to help the student reduce stress/anxiety. Helping students manage stress/anxiety allows them to better focus on academics. This skill is also transferable to "real world" situations outside of the classroom. Helping students develop healthy coping strategies early in life leads to better self-esteem, through success, higher achievement, better long-term health (reducing stress-related illnesses such as hypertension, heart disease, stroke, etc.), and overall wellness. The board games and stress reduction items will be used to provide students with the tools/vocabulary and devoted time with another person/adult to discuss issues such as anger, anxiety, self-image, etc.
